A RAIN GARDEN - The Living Heart of the Garden
Thoughtfully placed rain garden efficiently filters stormwater, enhancing garden sustainability and reducing maintenance - it breathes life into the garden.
The design was initiated based on the residents' request for a rain garden to serve as the centerpiece of the yard. The objective was to blend a flourishing planting area, a rainwater management system, and eco-conscious practices. The overarching vision aimed for a rich, natural, and landscape-appropriate harmony, all while embracing modern elegance and functional spaces suitable for a family with children.
The garden seamlessly blends with the surrounding nature through the use of natural stones and casually arranged stepping stones. The design prioritizes simplicity and clarity in materials and structural elements, adding a touch of modernity to the garden. When it comes to plant selection, the key concept is layering and a naturally inspired appearance. Lush, large-leaved perennials such as avens and ferns, complemented by various ornamental grasses, create a rich and verdant foundation reminiscent of a forest. The focus in flower arrangements is on delicacy and airiness, avoiding an overly heavy appearance. Instead of large blossoms, preference is given to smaller, gracefully flowering species like columbines, meadow angelica, cow parsley, and wood anemone. The inclusion of diverse tubular plants adds a sense of lightness to the compositions, resulting in a natural and airy ambiance. Additionally, the freely growing trees provide a green and eco-friendly canopy for the garden.
